What help will I get?

We will sit down with you and create a Personalised action plan which will include the steps to get you ready for the world of work. 
This includes –

• Life Coaching and Career Coaching (from the Coaching Young People For Success Program) 
 • Resume preparation and or ONE page personal profile.
 • Inviting parents and or carers to support you on your journey. 
 • Undertaking either paid or unpaid paid work experience with a Support Worker with you to be your mentor. This is where you will experience being part of a work team, understand what employers expect and what it takes to keep a job.
 • Building your confidence and self esteem 
 • Personal Presentation 
 • Finance and Budgeting
 • Plus other in house workshops to improve your life skills and employability skills.

You will always be central to the planning process and will always have choice and input to the decisions that are made.

Unsure about the work you can do?

Accepted Answer

We will talk to you and help you identify the things that you are good at and what you like doing, then start identifying roles that may be suited to you.

If required a professional skills/vocational/career assessment can be conducted by one of our Occupational Psych Partners at no cost to you. From this we can access some short paid work experience and have a Support Worker by your side to help and mentor you.

Unsure If I can work or Don’t know if I have the skills to work?

We will help you identify your work skills, even those that you thought you never had! 
If required a professional skills/vocational/career assessment can be conducted by one of our Occupational Psych Partners at no cost to you.

We will help you build life skills and confidence and learn about the world of work and what it takes to get there.

Question 4

How much does it cost?

The School Leaver Employment Supports SLES Program is funded by the NDIS and just needs to be part of your NDIS plan. If you are not sure, speak to us or to your Support Coordinator/Plan Manager.

Question 5

How long does it take?

Accepted Answer

You will be able to be supported by our program for up to 12 months with the provision of an extension. You can leave the program once you feel that you are ready for the work of employment (and also be connected to a Disability Employment Service Provider to help you then look for work) at any time.

Question 6

What if I get sick or change my mind?

If you become ill, then we can pause the program for you until you are ready to return. You can also leave the program at any time.

What happens if I get a job?

That will be a fantastic achievement! We will try and link you to a Disability Employment Service Provider so they can provide you with continuing support whilst you are employed. A DES Provider can provide you with support for as long as it’s required, years if necessary.

But are there any jobs?

Jobs are out there and they are meaningful, you just may need some support to get there and then the pathway and journey begins.
